On April 23, 2025, the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (KRSU) hosted a solemn ceremony of cancellation of a limited series of postage stamps dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The ceremony was attended by veterans, representatives of state structures, public organizations, students, and honored guests.

With welcoming words at the ceremony, representatives of key organizations and partners of the project spoke:

Dmitry Evlashkov, director of the representation of "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" in Central Asia, noted the symbolic nature of the stamp release as an act of historical continuity.
Sergey Vakunov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Kyrgyz Republic, emphasized that such initiatives strengthen fraternal ties between countries and shape respect for the feat of ancestors.
Sergey Volkov, acting rector of KRSU, drew attention to the importance of such projects for raising youth in the spirit of respect for history and preserving the common cultural heritage.
Maxim Syshchikov, general director of leasing.express, emphasized the importance of remembering heroes as a moral benchmark and an example of social responsibility from business.
Anton Sobin and Andrey Stepanuk, shareholders of the investment fund Central Asia Capital, noted that supporting such initiatives helps preserve cultural and historical identity, uniting generations and nations.

Cancellation of stamps — as a symbol of eternal memory

The central event of the ceremony was the formal cancellation of the limited series of stamps. This symbolic procedure was conducted by the general director of OJSC "Kyrgyzpochta" Marat Cherikchiev and the director of the representation of "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" in Central Asia Dmitry Evlashkov.

The commemorative series is dedicated to Kyrgyz citizens awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, as well as full cavaliers of the Order of Glory. During the Great Patriotic War, Kyrgyzstan sent more than 360,000 people to the front — almost every fourth resident of the republic. More than 30,000 worked in defense industries outside the Kyrgyz SSR.

For their courage and selflessness, over 150,000 Kyrgyz citizens were awarded orders and medals. 73 natives of the republic received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, while 21 Kyrgyz citizens became full cavaliers of the Order of Glory of three degrees.

The stamps commemorate the names of those who, through their valor and selflessness, earned the highest state awards. These are Heroes of the Soviet Union and full cavaliers of the Order of Glory — people whose fate became part of the great Victory.

Part of the print run will be handed over to participants of the Victory Parade on May 9 in Moscow. Thus, the commemorative stamp becomes not only a collectible rarity but also a symbol of historical memory that unites generations and countries.

The series was issued by "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" and OJSC "Kyrgyzpochta" with the assistance of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kyrgyz Republic, the investment fund Central Asia Capital, and the leasing company leasing.express.
