Central Asia Capital Completes Restoration of the General Panfilov Monument

A joint initiative by the Boris Yeltsin Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, the Russian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, and the Fund

On April 29, in the village of Panfilovskoye, Chuy Region, the restoration of the monument to the WWII hero Ivan Vasilyevich Panfilov was completed. This was a joint initiative of the Yeltsin Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Kyrgyzstan, and the main executors of the restoration — the Central Asia Capital private equity fund and leasing.express company. We plan to announce the grand reopening before the beginning of summer.

In the Kyrgyz SSR, General Ivan Vasilyevich Panfilov formed his famous 316th Rifle Division. The monument was erected in 1972 in the village of Panfilovskoye, Chuy Region, funded by local residents, and over the decades, it had fallen into disrepair.

The monument was renovated and re-patinated, and a guest specialist from Yekaterinburg, Ivan Dubrovin, restored the protective coating of the monument. General beautification of the territory was also carried out: new lighting and benches were installed for all visitors to the square. Local government authorities placed a children's and a sports playground.

In the future, we plan to complete the landscaping of the memorial zone: fully replace the granite paving, expand the park territory, and install two Soviet World War II-era howitzers — 152-mm and M-30 cannons. The central element of the renovated space will be a thematic zone dedicated to WWII. The opening of the Panfilov Museum is also planned here.

According to Anton Andreevich Sobin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Central Asia Capital, it is very important to preserve and cherish historical memory. "Ivan Vasilyevich Panfilov is a Hero of the Soviet Union, whose division stopped the Germans near Moscow in November 1941, when they were less than 30 kilometers away from the city," Sobin added.

"Major General Panfilov, as a volunteer in Turkestan, participated in the complex processes of state-building in the region for almost six years in the 1920s. Three years before the start of the Great Patriotic War, he was appointed Military Commissioner of the Kyrgyz SSR," commented Andrey Yuryevich Stepanyuk, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors and shareholder of the Central Asia Capital fund, on the shared historical heritage.
