Kyrgyzstan is taking a step into the future of the technology industry. Central Asia Capital Investment Fund together with the Ministry of Digital Development and Innovative Technologies of the Kyrgyz Republic signed a memorandum on the creation of the first innovative tech hub in the country, Central Asia Hub — a platform for the development of high technologies, localization of production, and the formation of strong teams capable of changing the future of the region.

The technopark will be located on an area of 7 hectares in the city of Tokmok. It will become a center of attraction for startups, manufacturing companies, and research laboratories, uniting public and private initiatives into a single ecosystem.

First Resident and Investments

At the first stage of the hub's development, the project of the Muras car factory will be launched with the support of “AvtoVAZ”. Central Asia Capital previously invested $30 million in it. It is planned that by 2026, a large-scale assembly with a capacity of up to 1,500 cars per year will start functioning. In the long run, within 10 years, the enterprise will ensure the production of up to 7,000 cars per year and create up to 1,500 jobs. In addition to cars, the site plans to produce medical X-ray equipment, robotics, and intelligent automation systems.

“We see this project as a strategic investment in the future of Kyrgyzstan's technology industry. It is important for us to develop an engineering school so that innovations are born here, within the country”, — noted Anton Sobin, founder of Central Asia Capital.

Partnership Between Government and Business

The model of the hub is built on a strong partnership between the government and private capital. The Ministry of Digital Development sets the strategic direction, and the Central Asia Capital fund provides investments and commercialization of projects. This scheme guarantees long-term sustainability, attracting new investors, and opening modern jobs.

“The creation of a tech hub in Tokmok will become a center of attraction for growing companies. We are creating a platform that will help maintain sustainable GDP growth through the development of production and the creation of new jobs”, — emphasized Minister of Digital Development of Kyrgyzstan Jamangulov Azamat.

What the Country Will Gain

The hub's project is designed for multi-faceted development of the economy and the technology sector:

  • Attracting investments in the high-tech sector;

  • Creating jobs and enhancing the qualifications of specialists;

  • Launching the export of technologies and locally produced products;

  • Growing competencies of engineering and management personnel;

  • Strengthening Kyrgyzstan's position as a technological platform for regional startups and productions.

“The hub's model is based on the partnership between the government and private capital for long-term investments and commercialization of innovations. The park will create thousands of jobs and provide conditions for industrial cooperation between Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and the EEU countries. Loyalty between governments is at the maximum level, which guarantees the safety of business implementation. Russian companies can already become residents or investors”, — concluded Anton Sobin.

Future Prospects

Central Asia Capital plans to scale the technopark model to the regions of the country, developing areas in IT, robotics, electronics, and applied technologies. The hub will become a platform for cooperation between companies from the СНГ and EEU countries, opening new opportunities for localization of production and international business development.
