The Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic has named private equity fund Central Asia Capital Company of the Year. The award was presented on September 18 at an official ceremony marking Entrepreneur's Day. The ministry cited the fund's contribution to foreign economic activity and export promotion for the republic.
Central Asia Capital has invested in Kyrgyzstan since 2018. Over eight years, the fund's portfolio companies have paid 511M KGS in taxes and mandatory contributions to the state budget.
The Central Asia Hub industrial park and Muras production
The fund's key infrastructure project is the Central Asia Hub industrial park, spanning more than 70 ha. The site is designed for production localization aimed at duty-free exports to the EAEU market.
The hub's anchor resident will be the national Muras automotive plant, which will run licensed assembly of models based on AvtoVAZ's technology platform, according to Forbes. By 2035, the plant is expected to create 1 500 jobs. Output is intended for the domestic market as well as exports across Central Asia.
The production vertical is complemented by a mobility service layer: the taxi.express fleet, the express.auto network of maintenance stations, the Avtomarket vehicle marketplace, and leasing companies leasing.express and Bystrodengi.
Banca crowdlending and IFC regulatory groundwork
To finance small businesses outside the banking sector, the fund operates Banca, a direct lending platform that connects private investors directly with SME borrowers.
According to the fund, businesses financed through Banca have created more than 500 direct jobs and 1 000 indirect jobs. To scale the mechanism, Central Asia Capital is working with the International Finance Corporation (IFC, part of the World Bank Group) on a draft law for the Kyrgyz Republic on alternative investments. The bill would bring crowdlending into the country's legal framework.
The Bars digital platform
In August, Anton Sobin, chairman of the board of directors at Central Asia Capital, presented the architecture of Bars, a national super-app, at the 8th Kyrgyz-Russian Economic Forum.
The platform's architecture brings government, financial, and consumer functions into a single interface. The app combines a secure national messenger, access to digital government services and tax payments, a fintech layer with a virtual card and P2P transfers, e-health services, urban mobility services (taxi, car sharing, micromobility), a direct communication channel with the Zhogorku Kenesh, and an SOS emergency alert system.
Academic programs and social investment
To supply its projects with management talent, Central Asia Capital, in partnership with the RANEPA Presidential Academy, established two schools in Bishkek:
The Central Asia School of Business — an Executive MBA program focused on EAEU operating markets.
The Central Asia School of Public Administration — an MPA program for training senior executive-branch officials in the republic.
Central Asia Capital's corporate responsibility work combines regular charitable contributions with direct project involvement in social infrastructure. Completed initiatives include equipping computer labs in more than 10 rural schools, building children's recreation areas in Bishkek, and restoring, together with the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, the memorial to Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Panfilov in Chuy Region.
